Term 4 has reached the halfway point and we are well and
truly racing to the end of the school year. Students are very busy both in and
out of their classrooms working on end of year assessments and many are
involved in extracurricular activities.
The end of the school year is a very exciting time for
students as they prepare to move to the next year level. Our Year 6 students
are also preparing for high school with the guidance of Mr Cunnington once
again. Mr Cunnington is very pleased with how the entire class are preparing
for this change.
At the other end of the school our 2018 Preps are absolutely
flying and are certainly ready to move up into Year 1. The school staff
continuously monitor the performance of every student and we are very pleased
with the progress made across all learning areas. Our ongoing focus on Reading
is making a big difference and we will finish the year the most number of
students ever to have reached end of year Reading benchmarks. To highlight the
progress I have compared our end of 2015 Reading data with our end of Term 3
2018 data and the difference is something to be proud of. This year Cooran will
finish with nearly 100% of students reaching their personal Reading goals.
2019 Classes
Looking ahead to 2019 I am very pleased to say that
enrolments are strong with 25 Preps already confirmed for next year. We also
have another 7 students enrolled in the primary school. If you know of any
other families that have children yet to enrol, please encourage them to make
contact with the office.
In order to have an accurate picture of numbers for 2019 it
is also important to know of families that are leaving us. If you know you are
moving away and leaving Cooran State School please let us know by calling into
the office or giving us call.
Fingers crossed we reach the magic number required to have a
7th class in 2019.
Musical
The Cooran State School Musical in on next week at the
Cooran Memorial Hall. There is a matinee performance on Wednesday 21 November
at lunchtime and an evening performance on Friday 23 November from 6:30pm.
Tickets sales are now open. The musical is a huge undertaking for a school of
our size and we need your support to make it a huge success. Tickets are $5 for
students and $15 for adults. There are approximately 150 tickets available for
each show.
The entire school will be watching the musical on Wednesday
and all Prep to Year 3 students have received permission notes and an invoice
for their ticket.
Please note students attending both shows do need two
tickets, one for each show.
