On the 7th of September a team of STEM students from Cooran State School joined 213 students from the South-East Region to participate in a STEM Challenge day, hosted by Upper Coomera State College and Dreamworld.  The tournament involved students participating in various challenges including Terrific Trebuchet, Makey Makey coding, Autonomous EV3s, amongst others. The students did extremely well with one of our Year 6 students, Angelique D’Onofrio, being awarded a Team Leader Award, one of only four students to receive this recognition.
The students were remarked on for their outstanding teamwork and great sportsmanship.  Our top scoring team consisted of Bailey W, Phoenix and Leon who won their first challenge and came second in their subsequent challenge.  Overall, the Cooran State School Team came away with second place! This was an amazing achievement for a little hinterland school.
